There’s not a great deal that you can say about the Everly Brothers that isn’t already known. Unbelievably successful in the late 50’s and early 60’s they had 16 Top 20 hits including 5 No. 1’s in the Billboard Hot 100 including the little rock ‘n’ roll gem, “Wake Up Little Susie”.

These four girls produced perfect harmony and numerous hits in the 50’s, which, although lesser known in these times, are still being used to sell products today. Even if you don’t know the name you the songs such as “Lollipop”, “Mister Sandman” and the haunting melody “Born To Be with You”:

The Very Best of Johnny TillotsonJohnny Tillotson

Best known for “Poetry in Motion” Johnny Tillotson was a regular in the pop charts throughout the sixties. Very much a teen idol, with tracks such as “Earth Angel”, “Without You”, “It Keeps Right on a-Hurtin’” and the track, “Talk Back Trembling Lips” he had many a teenage girl in tears.

Turn Your Radio OnRay Stevens

One of the most successful country/pop crossover artists of the 70’s and 80’s. Ray was consistently in the charts throughout these two decades scoring 35 Billboard Hot 100 spots and 33 Billboard Country Hot 100 chart placings, including one of his biggest hits, “Turn Your Radio On”.

Golden ClassicsArchie Bleyer

The founder of Cadence records Archie Bleyer, arranger and band leader, he also worked as musical director for the show “Arthur Godfrey Time”. This gave him the possibility to sign new artists appearing on the show to his in 1952 established label. Cadence was extremely successful label having numerous nationwide hits including several of his own. He later sold the label to Andy Williams who re-named it Barnaby Records.

One of the first signings on Archie Bleyer’s Cadence Records, Andy became one of the Label’s biggest artist with a string of hit singles and albums. Just to refresh your memory have a listen to the “Hawaiian Wedding Song”.

Rockin’ 50’s Rock & RollThe Crickets

 It was The Crickets’ first release in the 1970s, and marked the band’s embrace of their legacy as Buddy Holly’s backing band. The album is a concept album of nostalgia for the 1950s, consisting mostly of songs written by Holly and framed by the new retrospectively-minded title track. 

Live in Las VegasPaul Anka

A live recording of Paul Anka’s show in las Vegas in the 70’s. Ever the consummate entertainer regales the audience with a mix of material, boxing up many of his early hits in Medleys such as “Diana, Put Your Head on My Shoulder, Lonely Boy, You Are My Destiny”.

The Very Best Of… Lenny Welch

One of the early adult Black contemporary artists to sign with a West Coast label he scored a major hit with “Since I Fell for You” followed up by “Ebb Tide”:

Julius la Rosa was an Italian-American traditional popular music singer, who worked in both radio and television beginning in the 1950s. A very successful period for him, he is particularly remembered for “Eh, Cumpari”
