Great British Rock ‘n’ Roll Instrumentals, Volume 2Various Artists

A superb collection of instrumental hits generated by British artists. Often frowned upon by the ‘genuine’ rock ‘n’ roll  aficionados (rock ‘n’ roll can only come from the USA) the 50’s and 60’s produced a mass of local British Rock ‘n’ Rollers much loved by the locals.

Guitar Boogie FeverEddie Jones

Considered one of the fathers of Rockabilly and famous for rejecting Elvis (at age 18) for his band, Eddie Jones had a long slowly moving career from Rockabilly to Country music. Here on this Stomper Time release you get a chance to hear him at his very best.

Louisiana ManJohnnie Allan

Known as a true Louisiana man, Johnnie Allan has combined a teaching career with live music gigs playing out and out Cajun Rock ‘n’ Roll music. A unique combination which has served Johnnie very well.

Red River Rock AnthologyJohnny & The Hurricanes

Born in Poland and raised in Germany before moving to the United States, Johnny is certainly a member of that legendary group of unforgettable Rock ‘n’ Rollers. Almost as good as the gold “Red River Rock” check out his wonderful track “Rocking Goose”.

Everybody’s Rocking AgainSonny Burgess

Another fabulous rockabilly guitarist and singer from the very early days of rock ‘n’ roll Albert Austin “Sonny” Burgess rocks his and your socks off.

Rock The BopRamsey Kearney

A teenage country music prodigy nicknamed ‘the Dixie Farmboy’, a rockabilly singer with the Jimmie Martin Combo and a songwriter for Brenda Lee, Ramsey Kearney also recorded in his own name and rocked and bopped it with the best.

Those Rockabilly DaysNarvel Felts

From the very early career of Narvel, these recordings from the 50’s and 60’s illustrate his rockin’ rockabilly side in it’s purist form. His real success was to come in the 70’s, but that the basis was there can be heard on this album, highlighted by the successful “Pink  and Black Days”.

Bip Bop BoomMickey Hawks

One of the early rock ‘n’ rollers, inspired by Gene Vincent’s Be Bop a Lula, Mickey Hawks wrote “Bip Bop Boom”, probably his most successful recording in what was to be a relatively short career. However, it left a lasting impression, so much so that car manufacturer Citröen used the record to advertise their Cactus model.

Rockin’ Rhythm ‘n’ Blues from MemphisVarious Artists

Originally founded in 1959 by Ruben Cherry, owner/operator of the “Home Of The Blues” record shop on Beale Street in Memphis, this small regional label only lasted a few years, but recorded a great many wonderful examples of post-Sun blues and pre-Stax soul by artists such as Woodrow Adams, Roy Brown and The “5” Royales.

Rock Baby Rock It Various Artists

Soundtrack from this U.S. film. Probably the very best 50s rock ‘n’ roll movie in terms of raw and rockin’ talent. No sugar-coated lullabies here–just straight up R&B and rock ‘n’ roll. Rockabilly pioneer Johnny Carroll and the very hot Kay Wheeler (“Queen of Rock and Roll” and founder of the 1st Elvis Fan Club) star. Artists include: Roscoe Gordon, The Five Stars, Don Coates and the Bon-Aires, Preacher Smith and the Deacons, The Cell Block Seven, The Belew Twins.
